We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join the Noorda College of Osteopathic Medicine as a Faculty Member in the Department of Biomedical Sciences!

This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to student education, engage in scholarly research, and collaborate in various service activities that further the mission of the department and college. Faculty members are encouraged to pursue original research, engage in scholarly activities, and seek extramural funding in their areas of interest.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teaching & Curriculum Development:
    • Develop and deliver content in Biomedical Sciences relevant courses /modules.
    • Ensures teaching material is current and appropriate, for the context of the curriculum increasing student understanding of subject matter.
    • Remain available when content is active during office hours, visit pod groups, and respond to student questions through email and MS Teams.
    • Create and refine assessments, including exams, quizzes, and activities, to evaluate student comprehension and progression.
    • Continuously integrate emerging knowledge with practical clinical experience into the curriculum.
  • Student Engagement & Mentorship:
    • Serve as an advisor and mentor for students, pre-doctoral fellows, residents, and faculty peers.
    • Support students’ academic, personal, and professional growth.
    • Contribute to the development of leadership and involvement in clubs, organizations, and societies.
  • Research & Scholarly Activities:
    • Conduct and collaborate in research projects, including writing grants and securing funding.
    • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at local, national, and international conferences.
    • Support and mentor staff and students in the development of research questions and project execution.
  • Professional Service & Collaboration:
    • Represent the College at various academic and professional events.
    • Foster collaborative partnerships across internal and external organizations, institutions, and industries.
    • Contribute to the College’s compliance with accreditation standards and participate in the development of required documentation.
    • Serve on committees and contribute to College initiatives such as orientation, white coat ceremonies, and more.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
  • Advanced degree (PhD, DO or MD) in Biochemistry or another appropriate health related field and US citizenship or permanent residency required.
Experience:
  • Teaching: Candidates should have experience in teaching osteopathic medical, allied health and/or graduate students, preference will be given to those with experience specifically in an osteopathic program, and those with active learning experience.
  • Research: Demonstration of effective performance in research.
  • Evidence of effective, consistent mentoring of students, pre-doctoral fellows, post-graduate residents/fellows, and /or faculty-peers.
  • Leadership role (chair, vice-chair, etc.) highly recommended but not required.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Highly professional with honest, genuine, direct communication style, excellent interpersonal skills and emotional maturity with the essential ability to demonstrate tact, discretion and job diplomacy towards supervisors, colleagues and administrative assistants/ staff.
  • Significant understanding of higher education policies, practices and protocols.
  • Proven track record of quality, integrity and trustworthiness.
