Noorda College of Osteopathic Medicine is seeking an experienced and compassionate Educational Learning Specialist to join our dedicated academic support team! This position plays a vital role in enhancing the academic success and overall well-being of our medical students by providing individualized and group-based learning support services.
 
Key Responsibilities:
The Educational Learning Specialist will teach students about academic self-awareness and individual learning preferences, equipping them with the tools to thrive in a rigorous medical curriculum. Through one-on-one advising and group workshops, the specialist will counsel students on effective academic skills, including time management, study techniques, and exam preparation.
 
The role also involves identifying and supporting students who are academically underprepared and making timely referrals to appropriate campus resources. The specialist will maintain confidential advising records in compliance with FERPA and play a key part in upholding the quality, integrity, and standards for student academic success.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certification:
  • Master’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field
Experience:
  • Experience in a medical school is preferred; allied health or undergraduate experience will be considered
  • Demonstrated success in academic advising and mentoring
  • Background in supporting at-risk student populations
  • Experience advising students in healthcare-related programs
  • Completed coursework in learning theory or psychology of learning in higher education
  • Experience working with students with learning disabilities and accommodations
Skills & Abilities:
  • Honest, genuine, and direct communication style with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Emotionally mature, tactful, and professional demeanor
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality and FERPA compliance
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working independently or on cross-functional teams
  • Confident public speaker with experience producing reports and presentations
